BOXING.

[by TET.EQRAFII —PER. TRESS ASSOCIATION.) AIeDONALD v. ELMOUR. DUNEDIN. Dec. 7. After a somewhat colourless contest l.aehie AfcDonald (middle-weight champion of New Zealand) defeated Dick Elmour in the Exhibition Festival Hall in a 15-round contest for a purse of £l5O.

There was some hard-hitting, especially by AlcDonald, but both men used poor judgment, and their efforts were wasted in wild and ineffective swings. AlcDonald forced tli'c fighting all through, and connected far more frequently than bis opponent. Elmour lias an .effective uppercut, and bis left swing connected well occasionally, but be lacked MeDonahl’s bitting power. For a preliminary contest. Tommy Griffiths 8.8. (Dunedin) beat Mark Carroll 9.0 (Wellington) in a ten-round contest for a purse of £SO. Griffiths was far the cleverer boxer and was too fast for Carroll.
