The executive of the Australian Labour Party decided to adjourn consideration of tlie proposal to debar unions that remain on the. Labour Council from affiliation with the Australian Labour Party. It was stated during the debate that the Association of the Australian Labour Party with extremists had cost the party the Federal election and the Labour Council was under the domination ol Communists, consequently if the movement were to he cleaned up it was necessary lor unions to choose between the Australian Labour Party and the Labour Council. Tt- was decided to take a ballot of all unions on the question of what action should lie taken in connection with the deportation. The question to be submitted to unionists will include one ask iliac whether they favour a twentyfour hours strike in all industries. A conference of transport workeis to determine what form the protest against deportations should take, decided to form an anti-deportation campaign committee in each State for lhe purpose of promulgating anti-deporta-tion views among Unionists. Tlie conference also decided, with the object ol bringing about closer unity that transport workers should term an Australian transport alliance which would embrace all Unionists connected with sea and land transport. The Provisional Constitution provides for a. Federal Council, to control all sectional strikes and all disputes likely to extend lKsyond one State.
