EVERYBODYS PICTURES. A GREAT CniCUS PICTURE AND NEW SERIAL—TO-NIGHT. Tlk> hearts of about sixty youngsters were gladdened recently when they were brought from various sections of New York City over to Paramount’s Long Maud studio to witness a bona tide circus. And with the youngsters
acre grown-ups who got just as much fun out of the performances as tin* children did. Rut the surprising part of it all is that the spectators of 'he show were paid for watching it! Children and others, after each day of watch., ing clowns, wild animals, bareback riders, contortionists, elephants and everything else that, goes to make up a regular circus, received cheque for ■even and a half dollars. In other words, the “spectators'’ were movie ext>'as employed to act as an audience in the new Herbert Rrenon production for Paramount. ‘‘The Sideshow <f l.ife.’’ featuring Ernest Torrence and Anna ft. Nilsson is due to-night at the Princess Theatre. Maurice Cannon, Neil Hamilton. Louise La Grange. Lawrence B’Orsay. Katherine Leo and others appear in the strong supporting cast. It’s a story of a clown (in reality a cultured English gonilemnn) with a second-rate travelling French circus, lie becomes a hero in the "World War only to return to his old profession in the end when he finds there isn’t room even for a brigadier general in civilian life. “ The Sideshow of Life’’ is an intensely human tale of love and sacrifice. one that exerts a powerful appeal upon an audience—a picture that is sure to please everyone. The starting chapters of the new serial “The Steel Trail ” starring William Duncan and Edith Johnston will also be screened to-night. Patrons are advised to come early to secure a seat.
