ERECTION OF BRIDGES

Considerable work in connection with the erection of bridges on the main West Const roads is going on at present. The foundations for the iron traffic bridge across the Wnilio River are being put down, and the girders and ironwork for the superstructure are lying carried from Ross to the bridge site. The new traffic bridge at Frosty Greek, about eight miles south of Hokitika. has been opened for traffic. The ferro-cmierete piers for the bridge across the Innngnlma River, on the Roefton-Nelsoii road, are almost completed, and the ironwork for the bridge is being made in Christchurch. Tt is expected that the bridge will he opened in February next. A -I'tOft. bridge (with four spans of 11 Oft.l has been completed ever the TCarnmOa .River, T>v Messrs ft. mul S. Atkinson. A number of improvements have been effected in the "Boiler Gorge road and a dangerous portion of Hawk’s Craig removed.
