A public recognition which was overdec has I ecu made in regard to the work of Mr G. Davidson, a member of the Westland Hospital Trustees, in the matter of beautifying the hospital grounds. Mr Davidson is a very regular visitor to the hospital now for a long time past, and takes a very personal and practical interest in the institution and its surroundings. It is due to his initiative and example that t l '.. whole appearance cl the grounds arc so presentable. The approach to the institution has boon improved greatly of late, and the artistic entrance designed and executed by Mr Davidson is altogether very creditable. The devotion shown to tile public servoe is most pi niscvWthy and Ibe ccniiiiiiiiity i- indebted very greatly to Ml- Davidson for what lie has done, and is doing to iinnrove the .surroundings ut the institution. The attention to Hie matters referred to must he very acceptable to the patients, who will appreciate w hat is being done. The personal interest shown by Mr Davidson is of tile greatest credit and service, and i.s worthy of the highest- appreciation of all concerned. In referring to the local hosoital. a word of praise is due certainly to those i (’sponsible for the internal management of the institution. The hospital is well found now from every point of view, 'flu* old reproach with regard to the decayed buildings lias disappeared. There is a very bright structure of permanent material in place of the wooden buildings. A visit to the hospital will impress any one as to the manner in which the institution is conducted. Bright without. it is bright within, and order and cleanliness are observable on all sides. The institution is well staffed, and the staff arc spoken ofTiigb.lv. Altogether the community is well served bv all in and about the 'Westland Hospital, and there is every reason for genuine satisfaction as to the conduct and management of the institution.
