Tho new tennis court, situated in the Domain at Ilarihari was opened on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the function was marred hy a cold .southerly with drizzling showers, hut a pleasant afternoon was spent by those who ventured out. The inclement weather prevented .Mr Sodden ALP. from attending. and. the Court was declared ofen by the Club President, Air T. TL Young. A mixed doubles tournament followed, indulged in l>v those who had had previous experience. The novices at the game were content to look oil. All. however, participated in the delectable afternoon tea provided hy the lady member.- of the committee. The annual general meeting, with election of effper.s and adoption of rules, then took place. The laying out < f an asphalt- lourf involves n heavy expenditure. aad in so small a community there is some anxiety on the part of the promoters of the Club as to whether they are justified ill such expenditure. However, as a tennis court is a valuable m-el in any district, and a great means , f pleasure ami instruction lo young and old. we feel sure Dint it will he a great success and heartily congratulate the President am' committee on ilieir energy and foresight. and fi el sure that this expenditure will he hacked nv the settlers in
