HEAVY GALE. SYDNEY. Nov. 30. A heavy southerly gale at the weekend caused extensive damage in the city and suburbs. A SHOOTING A TER AY. BRISBANE, Nov. 30. Advice has been received of the fatal shooting of Cecil Perry at Mount I*ox. It is alleged Arthur Croton, whose wife was living at Perry's homestead went to the house and saw Perry, and after a conversation Perry turned to re-enter the house, when he was shot through the hack, the lmllet entering his heart. It is also alleged that Mrs Croton received a blow on tho head rendering her unconscious. Airs ferry, mother of Cecil, rushed to her son’s assistance and was also struck on the head. Later Croton was arrested and charged with m urdor. DOUBLE FATALITY. BRISBANE. Nor. 3(1. While repairing a well on his farm, at Alton Downs. George Cook, a wellknown farmer, was overcome by foul air. Harrv Butler, a farm worker, descended to the rescue hut was also overcome. Cook’s father then attempted to haul both to the top of the well hut collapsed and Cook and Butler fell to the bottom and were killed,. YACHTING V \TALTTIES. The victims are Aliehael Ward, draper of Williainstown : his wife Isabel, and Ellen Dennis, hotel licensee and ex-mayorees of Williatnstown. The latter’s husband was also thrown into the water but was hauled | aboard again. The victims "ill he given a public funeral. HOBART. Nov. 30. While yachting in DerwenL liver, Richard Whittington a prominent member of the Yacht Club of Tasmania and a skilled ritie shot was swept overheard by a sudden squall and drowned.
