SALE OF WORK.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. The Soldiers’ Hall will he the point of general rendezvous on AYednesday and Thursday when the sale of work in aid of the restoration fund of the Methodist Church will bo in progress. The ladies have lieen making great preparations for the event over a number of weeks, and no doubt their well sustained effort will he crowded with success. In the preliminary preparations the public have responded very readily, indicating a splendid spirit and a desire to assist where most required. The serious devastation by the late lire caused extensive damage to the Church building, and the cost of restoration will be considerable. It is to assist in defraying the cost involved that the present benefit is organised, and the public will tto doubt do their part right well. Patrons will iiiul many stalls sel tip in the building at which a working beo will be busy to-morrow. There is a fine array of goods, novel auo interesting which will be on sale. 801110 samples of the goods were on display in Re veil Street, on Saturday, and while attracting considerable attention, drew also many remarks in praise as to their usciulnes and beauty. Old and young will alike ho catered tor, and visits of Santa Claus at Ninas time can oven lie anticipated with the main useful and seasonable gilts which will bo on sale. Tito sale of work will run lor two (lavs, opening on AYednesilay afternoon. There will be instrumental concerts each evening, afternoon tea and supper will be served both days, and generally the public allondiug will be well catered for and pleasantly entertained. Gifts intended lor the sale ol work may be sent to the Soldiers’ Hall tomorrow evening or AYednesday morning. The opening has been fixed lor 2.30 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, and in the evening from 7 o’clock to 10.30. The orchestra will play from 7.30 to 10 each evening. The admission on Wednesday night will be one shilling, when there will he a promenade concert.
