LICENSING POLL.
THE FINAL CHECK. WELLINGTON, November 23. With the arrival of the figures relating to the Bay of Plenty yesterday the official record of the licensing poll was completed and shows a majority of 311.177 against Prohibition. For comparative purposes the figures for the two preceding polls are given:—
A summary from the above figures shows the following majorities for continuance at each poll: IOW 36,177 jqoo 17,603 1919 1 263 These figures show that prohibition came nearest to being carried at the 1919 poll. It is also interesting to note that at the special licensing poll taken under the Licensing Act, 1.918, in April (before the general poll) of 1919, the following was the result of tlhe two issues - National Continuance . . . 261,189 National Prohibition with compensation 253,827 Majority for continuance 10,362 The official declaration of the poll is In fie made by the Minister of Justice by Gazette notice, and is being prepared liv the Chief Electoral Office.
