All accident at Phillip’s stone qnar*y at Bankslown. resulted in two men being killed outright, and three others so severely injured that tliev will probably succumb. The sou of the quarry owner was ramming a charge, when a terrific explosion occurred. Claude Burton and Jack Wliyiioii, Uith of I.idcombo. were blown fifty feel in the air. their bodies iming horribly mutilated. Those* injured are: Morgan Jones, of Cahramat ta : Allan Phillips, nt Bankstown ; and Arhtur O’Brien, address unknown. They are sllflerittg from broken limbs, and hardly a portion of their faces is undamaged. Ambulance men describe the spectacle as tbe worst they have ever seen. PHILLIPS SUCCUMBS. QUARRY DISASTER. A TERRIFIC EXPLOSION. SYDNEY. November 27. The force of the explosion in the Bankstown quarry was so terrific that the victims’ bodies were found thirty feet from the edge of the quarry. T lie explosion shifted two hundred tons of stone and the men received the force of it. The* victims are shockingly mutiliated. Two of those injured are not expect'd to recover. O’Brien has been identified as a resilent of l.idcomhe. The accident occurred a few minutes before work would end for the day.
