MEMORIAL SERVICE. IN' TOWN lIAIjO. The firetell tolled out this morning at 10.15 o’clock, the first sign of the public memorial service in the Town Hall. From then till II o’clock the hell was tolled, and it served to give warning of the service arranged. Ihe business promises closed for a couple of hours. At. tile Town Hall there was a large assemblage. Ihe hall was filled with adults and then just on 11 o’clock the scholars from the District High School marshalled hv the Hector and other teachers marched into the hull, where .standing room even was soon not available, there being a considerate'* overflow in the lobby and passages. The Town Band under Conductor I?oss played a funeral dirge outside the Hall. Then followed the service arranged, the Deputy-Mayor (If. M. Coulsoti E.sq.T presiding, white Revs J. I’orkinji and B. Hutson, and Capt. Stein were also on the platform. The singing of the National Anthem, the Band accompanying, opened the service. Then the Chairman made a fueling and impressive address appropriate to the occasion on the life of the Queen Mother. The hymn “On the Resurrection Morn’’ was song, and then Rev. J. Perkins gave an occasional address on the Ire of the deceased, with a special reference to the young people p-esent to take the lesson of her life to heart. Captain Stein followed with a prayer, then the hymn “Peace Perfect Peace” was sung. Rev. B. Hutson gave a reading of Psalm NIIT. which was followed by tbe hymn “Load Kindly Light.” The Benediction followed and the imnressive service concluded by the Band playing the Dead March in ’’Saul.” / * "stralia A N.Z. The route of the Royal funeral from St. James’ Palace will he via Colour Court, Marlborough Date, The Mall, the Horse Guards’ Parade, the Horse Guards’ Ardi, Whitehall. Parliament Street, and flroad Sanctuary, to t'e Abbey. The route will he. lined by troops.
GRAND LODGE'S It KSQLRTfON. DUNK DIN. Nov. 20. The Masonic Grand Lodge at its meeting, with reference to the death of Queen Alexandra, passed the following resolution : “That tin's Grand Lodge expresses its deep sense of sorrow in the death of the late Queen Mother, and also its profound sense of gratitude and veneration for the example she has set the Empire of the true womanly life. It respectfully asks lii.s Excellency to tender their Majesties and the Royal Family their sincerest sympathy. May the Great Architect of the Universe give them comfort, in the thought that they wen* for so long privileged to he in such elc.se touch with a woman so universally loved, and so truly a Queen and mother of her people.” Resolutions were also passed recording the meeting’s sense of the loss suffered throiigPi the death of Mr .Massey, while in office as Grand Master, and that of Mr Malcolm Niecol. Ra-t Grand Master. His Excellency, Sir Charles Fcrgimson was present during part of the session, and ’briefly acknowledged Ids election as Grand Master. His installation. which had to he postponed beyond the time for the Royal Funeral, will take place on Saturday evening.

Archbishop Averill preaching at St. Alary’s where one hundred men with the officers from the three warships in port, attended.
