An axe. a crowbar anil a seven-pound hammer were the weapons used by two amateur cracksmen in Tiinaru oil Saturday night, in an unsuccessfull ateinpt to rob a safe belonging to Mr Edward .1. C’. Jensen, of North Street. Entry to Mr Jensen’s premises was ■fleeted by way of the window, which vas completely prized off its hinges ihout !) p.m. The safe was apparently ho eraekmen’s objective, hut, being on he largo size for removal by way of lie window, the kit of tools was again ►rought into operation and the door beanie the second victim. The burglary was discovered by Mr enseii yesterday morning, and the Kiliee were informed. Detective IT. J. ,e Sueur and Constable Herron nrrestd two men, Stanley Gilbert Taylor and ieorgo Spencer Pearce, both residents f North Street, in connection with the flair.
Taylor and Pearce appeared before Mr i). M’Lonnnn, J.P., at the Police Court this morning, charged with entering the premises of Edward Jensen with'intent to commit a crime. On the application of Defective Le Sueur. I hey were remanded lo appear on Thursday.
DEATHS AT SEA. WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. 'Two deaths occurred during tho vovigo of the feme. Mrs O. OTAGO SHOW. DUNEDIN, Nov. 18. 'The Otago Summer Show opened tollin' in glorious weather. The entile, sheep. Clydesdale horses, and pigs were judged to-day. The entries are slightly less than last year, the falling off being in the horse section. The Clydesdales, although not strong numerically, were a feature in points of quality, 'Thompsons “AVairongoa” scoring heavily. Of the various exhibits sent forward, tl-.e Eriesians also were a particularly strong section, and some aristocratic examples of the Breed were amongst the numerous entries. The Prime Minister.
