The Food Council reports that when the price of straightrun flour ranges from to 42s for 280 pounds, the price of a quartern loaf should not exceed 10d. When flour is .12s to 3Gs bread should he sd. A variation of 4s automatically alters bread hv one half-penny. These prices must be considered the maximum. Many bakers, especially where trade is mainly over the counter are able to sell more cheaply. Further investigations confirms the statement that London bakers are ehnnrging an exorbitant price.
