WESTLAND ELECTION.

THE PRESENT POSITION. Seen this morning Air G. Coles (Returning Officer) stated that further work on the Westland poll result was held in abeyance pending the receipt of the six papers reported from Westport yesterday. These will not arrive till Wednesday morning by the mail, and sliouid he available at 10 o’clock. The scrutineers (.Messrs Doogan and Scott) returned to Greymouth to-day and return to-night in readiness for the completion of the count tomorrow morning. The “ missing ” AVcstland voting paper was found included in the licensing returns from a distant booth last evening by the Returning Officer in the presence of the scrutineers. To enable the paper to bo found the scrutineers for the Licensing Poll attended also, and a commencement was made by counting the absentee licensing votes. It was during tilts process the required electoral paper was found. The count of the absent votes lor the licensing issue was completed last night and to-day the licensing scrutiny is proceeding in regular form. The electoral count is expected to finish tomorrow forenoon when the six additional papers are received from the Duller Rein ruing Officer. There are now nine voting papers to decide the final result.
