A despatch from Tsingtao reports the mutinous Fifth Division at Shan tung tired on General Fengtein’s White Russian Brigade from the rear while the Russians were endeavouring to stem the Allied troops ahead. A majority of three thousand mercenaries were killed, including an armoured car party, the wounded whereof received no aid until foreign medical men from Tsinnnfu daringly proceeded to the fighting areas.

The “Daily Mail” says the Irish Republicans are bitterly hostile to the Boundary Commission. They plotted to wreck or delay its findings by armed men. making a lightning dash upon, and ransacking London offices where most valuable documents, consisting of special survey .sheets, maps, historical records, secret evidence, confidential communications regarding commercial interests and opinions of local authorities arc kept; also the commissioners’ draft reports. Detectives have been ordered to shoot if necessary. Scotland Yard is also watching Irishmen suspected of sympathy with the Republicans.
