A head wind hampered the men on the wav out. I here were twenty-six starters. The winner nf the championship was I!. Dolman (Gisborne t! hum's Minins g’.'isecs, with '.'i. line ■ (T.ristchurchi second, 2 hours litmins lSsccs; Hepburn (Napier) was third. 2 hours Minins 37 2-b secs. A handican race was won bv C. Puseko (Patutahi) oil' the ISiiiins losco mark: \Y. Cochrane being second oil’ ISmins lb secs and P. Chanman third, |,'-'mins lbs. There were four lengths between the first and second. Puscke's riding time was 2 hours -Ibmins 28 2-b.
