A DUNEDIN TRAGEDY
MOTHER’S TERRIBLE ACT.
CHILDREN’S THROATS CUT

DUNHjDIN, (Nov. 9. A tragedy involving tlie lines of 3 young children, occurred at 8.30 this morning at 28 Brighton St., Kaikorai, where Lindsay Hart, aged 5 years. Andrew Hart, aged 3 years, and Nola Hart, aged 1-1 months were found with their throats cut.
The first intimation was when the mother, Ellen Hart, threw a stone on the roof of Mrs Upton’s house, adjoining. Then telling Airs Upton to como in with her they went into Hart’s house and Airs Hart said: “I have killed mv kids.”
Airs Upton called her husband, who found the children were all dead. The two I joys were lying on a mat in tlx kitchen, and the hahv was found in a pram with its head almost severed.
The-tragedy must have occurred just after Afrs Hart’s husband, a carpenter, had left for work. The bodies were removed, to the morgue. Afrs Hart was taken to the police station. From certain superficial gashes in Mrs Hart’s throat it is gathered she ittompted to kill herself with, the •azor that was used with such fatal 'exults. The father, Alexander Hart, x in an absolutely collapsed state. I'he police have not obtained his statenent.
The Marls came to Knikorai about a year ago from Afosgiel. Mrs Mart is said to have been a resident of tho North Island at one time. No statement has been secured that might elucidate the tragedy.
