GLORIA SWANSON, TO-NIGHT

In her latest Paramount picture. "Manhandled,” coining to the Princess Theatre to-night, Gloria Swanson adds new laurels to her screen interpretaimis l>y showing her ability as a mimic, in one of the. scenes in the picture which shows a gay party in a New York sculptor’s studio Miss Swanson does an impersonation of Charlie Chaplin that has been the tail; of the studio. The injection of this hit of mimicry in the picture nunc about quite by accident. One day after a scene .Miss Swanson was clowning on the sidelines and somebody handed her a derby hat. “f'll do a Chaplin for you." she told Allan Dunn. and. after securing a crepe-hair moustache, are performed so much like the redoubtable comedian that it was agreed that she do the stunt in the picture. When the time came for the scene .Mss Swanson added to her wardrobe the baggy trousers and big shoes, and "went over like a million dollars.” Tom Moore, one of the best-liked and most popular of screen actors, is Gloria's leading man. Those who have had an advance peep at the picture claim that this portrayal of the poor garage mechanic is his greatest performance. Aim Pennington and Brooke Johns, most famous of the Ziegfcld follies stars, arc also in the picture. A two reel comedy and the famous "fight and Win” series completes a good display to-night.

On Wednesday next Fred Thomson the world’s greatest athelete assisted hy his almost human horse Silver King will appear in his latest success "The Silent Stranger.”

On Thursday next Beaumont Smith’s great Australasian suciesstul comedy drama "The Digger Karl” will he shown for one night only. Arthur Tauchert, who will he remembered lor the part lie played in "The Sentimental Bloke” plays the same part in this grand production.
