CONTINUANCE MAJORITY. FINAL FIGURES. WELLINGTON, November 5. The final Licensing Poll figures fihough the recounts may alter them slightly) arc as follows: Continuance 278.593 Slate Control 52.536 Total 331,129 Prohibition 301,061 Majority for Continuance 30.065. The combined majority of Continuance and State Control over Prohibition was last night given as 27.986 with Wakilnu still to come, and tonight it was given at 80.065. plus 30.000 absent voters, and the seamen’s votes, which in Wellington are about. 1100.

When tlie final returns are received it is anticipated that the majority will he increased if anything.

THE TRADE VIEW. WELLINGTON. November 5. Mr Percy Coyle, President of ihe New Zealand Licensed Victuallers’ Association. stated the majority against Prohibition was very gratifying, especially as it seemed to indicate a definite turning of the “'prohibition tide. That definite tendency must indicate to any Government in power that, the public of Now Zealand would not have Prohibition, and therefore an opportunity should he given to the trade — in the way of a more satisfactory tenure, to provide such accommodation ns the growing needs of a young country demand.
