.lames O'Connell, aged 13. a printer, who arrived front New Zealand three days’ ago was found near Congee with, a fractured skull and other injuries. He was hospitalled in a serious condition. and win unable to give an account of bow Ids injuries were received, but lie is believed to be the victim of a brutal assault.

A conference of the representatives uf the dairying industry of all States adopted the Paterson scheme of butter stabilisation, providing for a voluntarv levy on every pound of buffer manufactured in the Commonwealth, to enable the payment of a bonus of threepence on every pound of butter exported.
