A I.OYK TRAGEDY. (SYDNEY. Nov. 2. Eollouing the death at dunce, of Glare Pruw.se. aged 17. a telephonist; dark Smith, aged 18. a. telegraph operator has been arrested. Ft is stated he had been paying addresses to the girl, and was repulsed. It is l>elicved she was attacked with a. razor. Site rushed into a house, where she hoarded, and was i nvered with blood and died shortly after. The police visited his room at a dunce hotel and arrested Smith, who is said to have had two gashes, one I cing in the temple. He was bleeding profusely, and on the point of collapse, anil was sent to tho hospital. It is believed lie will recover. There was a razor in liis room.
FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. SYDNEY. Nov. 3. Owing to the prevalence of foot and muth disease in England, the Federal lovornment has prohibited the impor;ition of cattle, .sheep and swine from he United Kingdom.
