At the Police Court, .Jenny Easton, charged with stealing tell pounds in her possession as clerk ol the Electrical Construction Company of New Zealand and was remanded to Hamilton on November (i. Detective Ward said the total amount missing was 9108. ONE .MONTH. CHRISTCHURCH. October 30. Arthur AlcKeevcr, charged with being a rogue and a vagabond, was sentence;! to one month’s gaol by the .Magistrate this morning. Evidence was given that accused, by posing as a detective obtained thirty shillings from a man in an hotel.

MOTOR SMASH. DUNEDIN, Oct. 29. Leslie .Mills and Stanley E. Dreschfcld. while ill ■icing in a motor from Roxboroiigh, run up a bank, at Fairfield. The car capsized and was badly smashed. Dresclifehl. a one armed man, who served in the Hying corps, was seriously injured about the head and face, and bad to undergo an operation. Mills was considerably bruised. CAR GOES OVER BANK. Arriving by the express from the north, be was received at the railway station by the Mayor, and was afterwards accorded a municipal welcome al the Council Clminliers. where there was a large assemblage to greet Sir Charles and Lady Fcrgusson. falter on the day. Sir Charles visited the showgrounds at Smithlield. where he was entertained at luncheon by the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, lie afterwards made a critical examiiition of the various exhibits. Tomorrow bis Excellency will be entertained at an official luncheon by the municipality.
