A disturbing strike incident is reported in connection with the coaling of the steamer Port Hardy, with a cargo of meat for the British AYar Office.
A hoard at the Bowen Bins had been removed and a number of trucks were' standing on the line ready to be placed aboard. The coal fell on the lint blocking all traffic to the wharf. r l Ik Port Hardy lias only a limited quantity of coal for the rcgrigcralors, and in the event of these not being kept working the farmers will lose thousands i pounds worth of meat. The farmers, believing the striker; are to blame, arc incensed to threaten trouble. They wired the Premier demanding immediate action be taken tc enable the steamer to eoal in safety. MELBOURNE. Oct. 30.
Two more Commonwealth liners are .involved in the strike. Tbirtv-five out of eighty-eight of the crew of the Port Napier, after giving an assurance of loyalty and thirty-three of the Port Campbell's crew of eighty-five joined the strikers. 'Tt is hoped with the balance of the crews, to lie able to carry the vessels to Svdnev.
