OPINION BACKED BY FACT. A Community, of Law Breakers. Patriotism Destroyed by Prohibition. Mr. Fred W. Brill ia one of the principals in the J. G. BRILL COK|rAN% K. p, ItAWU ■?: FRBn. w. brill A*»yW*A*T THPAfSI/»K Philadelphia, P. “BRILL” Philadfm'HM « “aXLKS” London : 16th April, 1925« AW OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF NEW ZEALAND. My opinion of the efficiency of Volsteadism and prohibition in the United States of America would require all the most denunciatory words in the dictionary. The most dreadful thing apparent to me is th© loss of patriotism among people of the substantial circle of Society. By Society I do not mean the fashionable folk, but the backbone middle class of our country. An almost equally, if not as serious, deleterious consequence of our prohibition laws, is the heavy secret tippling of our young men and women. It is a fact that working people, by this I mean the manual labourer, either skilled or unskilled, can obtain liquor when they wish it. I know this from personal contact with artisans that I know, and also in seeing others intoxicated in the streets. All that I can say is that I pray that your Government does not fall into the hands of any such narrow-minded illogical group aa has changed this country from a free land to one of a community of law breakers and potential traitors. If I should wish any ill to New Zealand, I could wish nothing more harmful than that her people adopt laws similar to our Eighteenth Amendment and the Volstead Act. My baby, at 13 months, could not take milk or foods with milk in them, as they would upset his stomach and he would lose weight. He was very puny, suffering con tinually from bowel troubles, but after taking Lane’s Emulsion for a week he was so ravenous that I ventured to give him cow’s milk again. He was able to digest it, and in a fortnight he had gained almost two pounds. He is still taking Lane's Emulsion and is quite a bonny boy. .*' He v *cw two years old, and has gained seven pounds in three months, though the increase does not reall* show how much he has improved. He like* the Emulsion and always wants more. 1 recommend it at every opportunity, and 1 thank God for th« wonderful day when e EMULSION Wi brought to me by the extreme kindneri of i ad who was interested in my boy.” (Mu.)
