MR SEDDON IX SOUTH WESTLAND -Mr T. E. Y. .Seddon, accompanied by -Mrs .Seddon. arrived from Greyinoulli bv train yesterday morning, and left immediately after for South Westland in beautiful weather. At the Ferngrove Sawm.ill, Fergusons, .Mr Seddon met the millhands and the residents, and a meeting was held. .Mr Hewer presided. .Mr Seddon spoke on several subjects, making reference in particular to the timber industry and the labor troubles of today. At: the close of the address. Mr R. Cherrie proposed a vote of thanks. The motion was seconded by Mr W Bnnnister and carried. Eu route to* Wataron, .Mr and .Mrs Seddon called at several places and reached Mataimii at 4.30 o’clock. In the evening a well-attended meeting was hold in the Watnroa Hall. .Mr G. Xorthcroft. Chairman of the Dairy Factory Co Ltd, and of the local branch ol the Farmers’ Union, was in the chair. The chairman in introducing .Mr Seddon referred to his interest in tho district and the good work he had done lor the place. .Mr Seddon had a

very enthusiastic reception when rising to speak, lie referred to the pleasure of being back in the district, a place which had given him a good majority always. The candidate spoke for oyer an hour and a-half on various political •subjects. He referred to the railway policy, and in doing so gave the history of the South Westland railway, a work which had been interrupted by the Minister-in-eharge, lint which, it was hoped, would be started again. Ho spoke also on hydro-electricity in which the settlers take great interest, and gave particulars ol the Labor platform on the land question. One question on education was asked by a lady of the audience, and answered satisfactorily. .Mr R. Eccleslield moved the vote of thanks, and confidence, in doing so he referred to the splendid record of Mr Seddon. " Now was the time,” said Mr Ecclcsliehl. "more than ever to support, loyal men. Mr Seddon had proved his loyally and loyal candidates deserved support.” Mr G. Nisxon seconded tin* mol ion which was carried with one dissentien l. Mr Seddon speaks at Wailm Gorge 10-nighl, visiting Okariio this afternoon.
