A NAPIER PROTEST. NAPIER, Oct. 20. At a. well-attended public meeiing here to-night called to discuss technical Education, the following resolutions were carried; (1) ‘-That this meeting i emphatically protests against classili- , cation of Napier with Oamaru in postprimary education, as Oamaru. with an approximate population of BPPQ is in the Otago Education District. which showed last year 2 per cent decrease ill school attendance whereas Napier, with approximately 20.P0P population is the largest town in Hawke’s Bay Education District, which showed last year an increase in school attendance of 15 per cent.'’ (2) "That this meeting considers IliaL the population, and importance of Napier warrant ill" establishment of an unattached junior high school.” ItECORI) SIT'D CATTLE SALE. NAPIER, Oct. 2P. To-day marked the dosing chapter in the history of one of New Zealand’s greatest beef cattle sales, when over 10.OOP guineas was totalled for Mr Robert Roll's Ben l.omoud Aberdeen Angus stud. Australian bidders contended for many of the picked animals and seemed two of the champions. Olaf of Ben Lomond (Royal champion) and Rex of Ben Lomond (1024 Hastings champion) at 230 guineas. The sensation of the day was. however, the sale of the yearling. Turk of Ben Lomond, at 220 guineas to Gwavas station. By a motor-car accident at Charwell cutting, on the Knikoura-W aia.u mad. two men lost th.eir lives.
