National Candidate, addressed a very large meeting tit: Fielding hast night, and was enthusiastically received, lie favored emigration and moderate political parties, anti would not support any no-'nnfidem e motion moved by the Labour Bartv in the II itise. Air Cobbe criticised the extravagance of the past administration, claiming that t! e formation of a National Government would put a cheek on such extravagance. He favoured the maintenance of the Singapore Rase and an adequate defence scheme. Air Cohhe also advocated a freehold land policy, an agricultural hank, and the Ward system for the election of renresentafives to Dairy Control Board. The candidate received an almost unanimous vote of thanks, WHANGAREE October 21. A rousing reception was extended the Prime Minister at Whangarei Town Hall last night by a full capacity audience of thirteen hundred people. Air Coates recapitulated tho policy programme previously enunciated. A vote of thanks and confidence was enthusiastically carried, the whole audience rising anil cheering. AUCKLAND. October 21. Yelling and shrieking obstructionists. including several women, made pandemonium of a meeting addresse*. by .Miss Melville, the Reform candidate for Grey Lynn. The uproar was led liv a woman with n shrill voice. The candidate was subjected to continuous
interruptions throughout lier address and at quest ion time, thunderin'; voices tried to make speeches in reply to t!ie cnfididate’s answer. A vote of
no-confidence was moved that “owing to the candidate's lack of political 4 knowledge,” hut an amendment of thanks and confidence was carried by the candidate’s friends, who were in good force, while her opponents cheered fhe Labour candidate and sang “ For He’s a Jolly Good Follow.” WAIMAFKAF. October 21. A largely attended meeting of supporters of Hon J. G. Coates, held last night, released him from addressing them, and pledged themselves to work whole-henrtedy for an overflowing majority.
