ANOTHER FIRE.
The lire he II rang out another alarm of fire hist night about 0.211 o'clock. The alarm was first given by Mr WPeck who was passing up Rolleston Street, homeward hound, and saw the flames in the cottage owned and occupied by Mr .lames Walsh, at the corner of Rolleston and Hampden Streets, formerly occupied by the late Mr P. I)wan. The lire had a good hold in tie hack rooms when discovered. The Sale Street lie 11 rang out the alarm and telephone communication was sent into town and soon the main alarm was given. The Fire Brigade were soon on the sjxit and a great pressure ot water was pouted into the building which was a very old one hut in spite of their efforts the nhiee was gutted before the outbreak was overcome. Mr and -Mrs Walsh and their four young children were at the circus at the time of the outbreak. There was soon a great crowd of neople in the vicinity o! the fire, together with a fleet of motor cars, and it was due to the assistance of some of the latter that some of the Brigade members and their gear from the town stations were enabled to got
quickly to the scene after the alarm was given. The whole of the contents were practically destroyed. Insurances on house £l5O. on furniture £SO. both in Boyal Exchange Office. The cause is unknown. Mr Walsh stated that .everything appeared to lie all right when they left the house about 7 p.tn.
