•.Contributed.) * Some seven members of the Second Troop spent last week-end in camp at South Spit, and in spite of rather unsettled weather the camp was quite a loisv one, ami good work was accomplished in several directions. The Scout Lantern Slides which were shown at the Town Hall on Tuesday night attracted quite a number of people in spite of the worst possible weather conditions. Scouting activities of every description were shown in an interesting manner. Fiifortunately the majority of those present were well tried friends of the movement locally and the endeavour to explain the true inwardness of Scouting to those who h;ul hitherto not boon specially interested was frustrated by the Clerk ol the Weather. .Mr J Far!; managed the lantern in sm h a wav that Ihe slides were' seen to excellent advantage and I lie elder as well as the younger members of the audience seemed keenly interested. The Second Trim]) and Rack have been going ahead with badge and other tests and the following are recent successes:—Knrolled as Tenderpad: Roy Idvsins; One Star Cub: Leigh C'ederman. T. Melvor; Knrolled as Tciiderpad ; Sam Roberts. The Scouts of this troop hope to spend Labour l)av week-end in camp at Awalniui. This will he the troop’s thirty-second camp -nine they lirst went into camp on the same week-end in 1223. ll is a!--i) hoped to celebrate Trafalgar night by fireworks, and a camp fire in similar munner to last year.
