The following motion was earned: "Thai the several Associations lie recommended to lake an inteiesl in the weltarc ol all dis- < barged prisoners, ami also their w ives and tamiiies, and that practical assistance he extended to those who require assistance.’’ The payment ol piisoners was discussed and it was noted that prisoners were not paid for the lir.sl three months of their sentence. The "Daily Kxpiv.s.sV Berlin correspondent says :—“Doctor Karl Musler. ol the Aryhysical Technical Institute, has made sheets of steel as transparent ;is the clearest glass. Lines on test plates used to determine the trails- I |«irene.v of glass were photographed through the steel, anil showed no distortion. The sheets are so thin that helium can pass through without impediment. though this is completely stopped hv a sheet of paper. The sheets are made hy depositing a film of metal on a smooth surface hv means of an electric current, and then separating the film from the foundation.
