(irot'ii and MacFarlanc from the Coleridge Tunnel may be abandoned owing to the grave danger attending the work. The cross-cut to the place where McDonald's body is Ix'lioved to lie. reached the main tunnel this morning, and cannot bo continued. Owing to further falls occurring the men abandoned the drive and started on a cross cut to (freon's body. A huge boulder held up work this morning. The portion of No. (i pipe tunnel also collapsed. Four men had a narrow escape. FRESH FALLS. CHBTSTCIimi. Oct 8. As soon as I lie air from the drive got. through to the loose shingle a rumbling noise commenced, and fresh falls started.
