Bruce Bay, returning to Jacob's River tbe same evening. Rain came on yesterday, and travelling was not as pleasant as previously. "Weather permitting. Air Chesterman was to start on the return north this morning, and expects to reach Waiho Gorge to-morrow, probably returning to Kanieri tbe following day.
Complaints are being made hv motorists that drivers of motor lorries are not giving much attention to traffic fi Rowing behind. All vehicles engaged in heavy traffic are required fo carry reflectors so that overtaking vehicles may be observed quickly and given tbe right of way. Cases have come under notice where nvertnkimtraffic has bad to follow behind in tbe dust of a lorry- for miles because of the neglect to properly- equip a lorry, or the driver pay attention to the signals of overtaking traffic.

The official opening of the season by the Greymoutk Bowling Club wa. field mi Wednesday afternoon under ideal weather conditions. A stir has been caused in newspaper and journalistic circles in Auckland by a rumour that another daily evening paper is to be started in the Queen
City of the North. The rumour is taken seriously in Auckland, and it is suggested that a good deal of Canterbury capital will be found for the venture. i! is also reported that the new company proposes to acquire a Siuiib Island journal, the purchase price running into six iiguics.
