Vickers tendered for a steam equipment of the Scotch marine type, steam equipment with water-tube boilers and the semiDiesel crude-oil system, their tender for the last-mentioned class being the lowest, received, and less than their own tender for water-tube boilers. Ihe new tug "ill have accommodation for -150 passengers, and will he of 1 tit HI brake horse-power, equal to 1100 indicated horse-power. He states the find is tho most important discovery yet made. The carvings undoubtedly are of aboriginal origin. The period is uncertain, hut it is one of considerable antiquity. The canoes are all deputed as heading south. They have a peculiar construction ami I'eeuliar features of adornment. These contain single and double spirals.
Air Hamilton states they are a groat national monument.
