Mr Chamberlain in his inaugural address, said lie hoped the conversations would be kept tree and informal, all the meetings being on a footing of perfect equality, without a formal president. I lie Conference decided to waive any discussion of a general nature, in order immediately to consider the articles of the Oralt Security Pact drawn up by the exports of the Powers in London recently. \,i agreement- was immediately reached in regard to certain articles. Amendments were proposed and other articles were reserved for fuller examination by legal experts. Other articles were reserved for later examination by the Conference, All were delighted with the celerity with which the conference began discussion and at the progress already made. The Germans themselves regard the session as an augury of final success.
OFTRAOES IX TTAI-Y TjONDOX. Oct. 0. The “Daily Telegraph's - ' Romo correspondent states tliat riots at Florence due to tlie anti-Masonic agitation, have commenced. Signor Bandinelli, a well-known Freemason, was called to a Fascist Club to give an explanation of his lomluet. Signor T.nperini. with a party of Fascists, motored to Bandieelli's tlat to enforce tlie request, lmt . Bandinelli refused, knowing the praej tice of Fascists of inviting opponents to headquarters where they administered physical correction. A neighbour named Boeciolini heard Bandinelli’s refusal and intervened. He then apparently wounded with a revolver two of the Fascists, including l.uperini. Thereupon Bandinelli and Boeciolini tied. Bandinelli is still in hiding, hut the Fascists found Boeciolini concealing himself behind a chimney on a roof. They dragged him into the street where several bullets were hied into his body. Meanwhile gangs of Fascists wrecked several flats and looted a minder of shops. ROME. Get. 3. Three were killed and one seriously injured as the result of a fierce outbreak among antagonistic Fascist and Socialist forces. The rioters entered the conflict armed with clubs and wrecked shops and offices.
