The West ham Hoard of Ounrdiuns rejected the Ministry of Health's oiler of a loan to enable the Guardians to carry on their functions, provided they, noreed to a reduction of the maximum scale of relief. The guardians bad previously rejected an amendment that a hallol be taken at the relief stations to ascertain the will of the unemployed and till in receipt of relief.

Amundson's exploration schooner Maud. which sailed from here on .'June flnl. of 1922 in the hope of drifting in the Arctic ice across the North Pole has returned.
