Thirtyone cases ol inlcctious diseases and three deaths from that cause were notified in the ( anterhury and Westland Health Districts dining the week ended at noon on Monday, compart'd with twenty-seven eases and lour deaths in the previous week. One death from tuberculosis occurred in the Westland district, and one each from pneumonic influenza and cercbro-spinal meningitis in Canterbury.

The Westland Suh-l’ninn forwarded a cheque for £42 18s i)d. being the nett gate for the South Canterbury-West Coast match at Hokitika. It was resolved that a letter l.e sent congratulating the Sub-Cnion on I lie excellent result, considering the conditions, and a>(know lodging the capable way in which the whole of the arrangements for the match were handled. The Secrotary reported that the West Coast Primary Schools Championship Shield had arrived. It was decided to forward the Shield to Reef ton School (last season’s winners) I to he held for three months, and to he j then -ent to the Hokitika School, the j present year's winners.
