Thus llio centre of interest has moved from the west to the east front. The operations were preceded by a night-long 'bombardment. The advan e. extending three miles east of Kiffano. started before dawn, and it completely surprised the Moors, who tied, leaving two guns and ammunition. The Rilfs later counter-attacked Kunxiin. hut were driven off by an artillery and aerial bombardment. As regards the coming offensive, Baris newspapers leitrn that the French have abandoned the method „f attacking after a methodical arjijr low preparation in favour of exerting pressure at numerous points which method promises more substantial results. It is pointed out that while tho success of the Spanish landing at Alhueomax largely depends on the future French operations the possiMity of a rapid French advance northwards to Adiir is ruled out owing to the risk of large forces being isolated.
