From Kanieri' Electric Ltd., stating the Company was doing its utmost to give a satisfactory electric light for the town and outlining the work living done. Received. Ihe Mayor moled the explanation he accepted as satisfactory. Seconded by Mr .fodries who considered the Company was doing its utmost to give the light they had contract ed to do. The motion was agreed to. From Marine Department advising that the price for shingle removed from the sea beach had been redtned to -hingle lid. and for sand Id per load. Received. It was resolved that the old rubbish dump he levelled off and the new area ut ilised. From Public Trust Office acknowledging receipt of interest on abattoir loan. Received. From Mrs A. Mr Blank moved the adoption ot Clause A. Mr Evans asked what was the cost involved in the work. He suggested that .specifications he drawn up and an estimate of the cost he supplied. Mr .1 e'Tries protested that the tar scaling of ReVell St. was one ol Ihe works for which the loan money was ear-marked. Mr Coiil-on could not see why some of the works inold not lie doim out of ordinary revenue. The Mayor slated the pip-s urn- already made and paid for. The suggestion of Mr F.v.-ins was agreed to. In reference in Clau-e 11. I lie same procedure was agreed in and t h<' report a- amended was approved. Mr Heinz urged attention he given to the footpaths in pi I'fei once to the road-. Mr Coid.son reported in connection with talking places that he had conferred with Seret. King who had agreed to cars being parked meantime oil the whart side of Cihson s (,limly Sewell and Tanned Streets. Report le'i'ived and agreed to. Mr Kvans moved t hat the police lm ask -d to act to prevent ear- parking in front of the theatre.—Seconded by Mr Coulsom and carried. It was resolved to confer with the superintendent ot th" Mental Hospital in regard to a light mi Cemetery Hill. TKXDKHS. One tender was received for gravelling I’pper Drill an St. from .1. Coyle. £2ll. The tender was aecefted. For widening ot Davie St. only one tender was received, for £22 10s front .1. Coyle. The tender was accepted. Air Blank asked wluit action the Council could take to abate the smoko nuisaiee from the AVestlhnd Hairy Fai-tory. The Mayor said that was a matter for private action. An enquiry as to when the ‘‘silent policemen" would he provided drew a replv from the Town Clerk that they would he in place before next meeting and Mr Blank stated that though he had opposed the proposal, he had found the necessity for them by being nearlv run down by a motorist on the wrong side of the road. The Council rose at 8. II p.m.
