I A deputation from the Council of Me .New Zealand .National Athletic Association waited on the Prime Minister to-day, to ask assistance finaiicisily in arranging a meeting between Mo world champion runner Pavo .Nurmi, and toe New Zealand campion. Rose, It was pointed out that Rose was non at the zenith of his form, and had never been fullv extended. It would in- his great opportunity ot meeting Nurmi. His times were such that it was coniideiily beI leived he could do even better. The j main idea was to try anil induce Xurmi to come to New Zealand, and it was thought through the agency of I the High Commissioner the object would lie achieved. If found that Nurmi could not make the trip. It might he possible to semi Rose to England anil the Continent. The venture would cost £,if» or £BOO, and if the (loventmeiit could -ee its way clear to make a grant ot L'.>o : h the Council would find the remainder. .Mr Coates stated that lie would arrange with the High Commissioner to be communicated on the question, dbe reque-t for ns-is-tanee he would place before the Cabinet.
