He forced an _ entry, am! found her luidy with many k severe wounds on her throat and arms, A robbery theory is considered on tenable. because her beautiful wristlet watch and her purse remained untouched. though a pair of ear-rings and a small souvenir basnet were missing. A watchman states he saw a light in the room at o'clock on Saturday morning the door being closed, while at (! o’clock the door was open, and the room then was dark. She is supposed to have been murdered l>etween these hours. A letter from a compatriot Australian whom the deceased met on tho llatavia was found in the room torn to fragments hut it threw no light on the crime. .Native hotel servants upon whose clothing a few red spots were found, have been arrested. The spots are being tested to see whether they are Wood. The police are convinced, owing to the methods used that the murder was not the work of a native. SYDNEY. Kept, ilil. Air Alacfie.
