ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A FIRM MARK FT. (By Telegraph.—Special to cuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This day. Messrs 11. Matson and Co., report as follows regaiding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: .Store sheep.-- A much smaller yarding and included mostly hoggets, with a lew pens of wethers and ewes with lambs at foot. The latter were mostly young and the owe- devoid of teeth. All classes sold well, especially ewe begets. The market was very firm. Best jj-bred ewe hoggets Jos to 10s. others at Is to His til; best forward veflteis H; is to HHs, failing mouth .(-bled ewes to Hds fid ; aged ewes and lambs, all counted, 20s to -Ms.

Store cattle—A very large yarding, and included several good lines of Kaikonra and Marlborough cattle. Competition was keen for all sorts, and any well-bred good conditioned cattle were eagerly competed for. '1 lie usual quota of odd cows and nondescript lots v.cre in evidence and sold at recent rates. Good 2-year steers £0 os to £7 10s; others down to £4 Ids; 3 and 4-year steers £0 to £ll •>, others down to £7 10s; M.S. yearlings, 3ds to dOs. One good line of steers £3 10s; cows £2 to £4.

I‘igs— A larger yarding than last week. The market for both porkers and baconers opened easier than the previous sales, but in our opinion values were excellent all through and vendors bad nothing to complain about. Heavy baconers, especially, met with keen competition, and £3 ds was recorded for a pen of extra heavy baconers. Choppers were not up to the usual standard, but only a few being yarded helped to maintain prices. Values were:—Light porkers £2 12s. to £3. heavy £3 os to £3 los. extra heavy £4 4s. Price per pound. lOd to lOpl.

Wethers again predominated and although the quality generally was anything hut good, there were one or two exceptional lines of hath wethers and ewes yarded and these showed a decided improvement. Despite the shortage medium ami inferior sheep showed little dilfercme. Sooner than pay famine prices the smaller hatchers are drawing supplies from the works; otherwise the market would he “dynamite.” The average rise over Inst week was about 2s. but with good sheep the rise was in places more accentuated.
