A FINE PRODUCTION—Ti ESDAY. .McLean’s present on Tuesday night a fine programme. The nobility ot selfsacrifice forms tlie theme of ‘Colleen of the Pines.” a highly engrossingscreen drama to lie untohied lor the first time with the beauteous Jane Novak in the leading role. ” Colleen of the Pines.” is a powerful drama from start to finish. The locale is the wilderness of the Canadian Northwest and the action moves with the swift and refreshing sweep ot strong winds through tali timbers. It is lull ot the keen, tingling atmosphere of the north woods that will go far towards counter.,(.tilin’ the heat and humidity of summer days and nights. As to tile story, it should satisfy the most exacting ol Aliss Novak's admirers. The delicate blonde beauty of the star furnishes a striking contrast against the rugged backgrounds of towering hills and virile peoples. The narrative has to do with the lives of two sisters and their Stent all*! religions father who tonducts his household under the most rigid regulations. The younger daughter has mi unfortunate affair, ami the elder, impersonated by Miss Novak, takes the blame on her own slim shoulders. From this situation the plot is worked out in a most thrilling and plausible manner, with love triumphant in the end. A superb cast supports Miss Novak. Miss Jacobs will supply the incidental music.
