Matakaoa Hospital District Bill, am! ( hi Id Welfare Hill, were reported irom the Standing Committee', without amendment. The Industrial ('oncilini ion and Al'liitration Bill was received from the llou-e of Repre-entatives and read a first time and second time, pro forma, and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The Forests Amendment Bill and Government Railway- Amendment liill were received from the House of Representatives and read it first time. The Pensions Amendment Bill was read a second time, put through tit? final stages and passed unamended. The Council adjourned at U. 10 until 2.30 on Monday. THE HOUSE.

The House met at 2.30 and on the motion of the Prime Minister immediately proceeded to discuss the Public Works Statement, the debate on which continued till 1.20 a.in., after which the Hons? went into Committee of Supply to consider the Public Works Estimates. The discussion was almost entirely of a local character, the whole of the votes being passed tinder an hour.
