WORLD’S MEAT DEMAND
A SPLENDID (II’PHRTCNITV. [Australia A N.Z. Cable Association.j] NEW YORK. September 12. Mr John Crnmsie. of Australia, interviewed at Chicago declared that material which he has gathered •indicates that the world demand for meat products will increase, much more quickly than the supply, causing the present, or even higher prices to rule in future. Mr Crnmsie is nearing the end ol a year’- lour of Hie North and South American coin incuts, lie is now consulting the American leaders beiore proceeding to Canada. lie expects to return to Australia in November. lie said : I believe it will be found extremely ililiieult within the next ten years to feed tile world with beef. 1 hope my country will accept the opportunity to develop her almost unoccupied northern areas. Ihe Argentine has almost reached its limits of production. Uruguay is fully slocked, and any extension in Brazil is likely to have a very slow movement. I consider that the Guile,i States will have- all -lit' call do to provide siiffleient for her people, it she is able to do it. Canada's increasing population will lake any small increase that would come without extensive development. 11l my opinion. Hie world’s demand for meat a- regards better finalities and larger quantities is extending. The question is whether the producers in Ihe various heel raising countries are eoiit inning to extend ll.eir production to meet the demand. I am of the opinion, from my survey
at the present mon.'tit. that Australia i- t |;o. only country which can profitably extend big production to meet lbe increased world demand. ! think Hu- time has arrived when Hie Government ol Alls! ralia should r"U-

The conferva I inn of port !aelilties to enable such production to be handled profitably should be provided. New Zealand i- unchallenged a- a lamh-pro-during r..mill ry. am! -he will remain unchallenged for many tears, if not for ad time in regard to quality, qnnni. jiv and product ion lor export.
