WELLINGTON NEWS

N.Z. wool, SALKS. (Special to “Guardian”.) WELLINGTON, September 0. Considerable difficulty appears to have arisen in conneetinn with the arranging of the roster of wool sales tor , omiii" season. for .some two or three wars the wool interests in Poverty Lav have been endeavouring to have Gisborne included in the list ot selling places hut to this the buyers object. 11,,. \.Z. Woo! brokers' Association have endeavoured to meet the wishes of Poverty Hay, but there is little , banco of Gisborne being given a place m the selling list. The buyers object particularly to attending sales in Gisborne oil account of the extreme diliieully encountered in travelling to and icom that place. It is pointed out. that under existing conditions a very great strain is imposed on buyers who regularly attend the various sales in the Dominion. Practically the whole ol their time from the mi,ldle ol November to the end ol .Mann is spent in valuing and travelling Iront one selling centre to another, and it is -rated that owing to the heavy demands made on them they are unable to value the wool with that care which is so necessary if satisfactory results ale to he obtained. The buyers have brought the matter tinder the notice ol the Hritish Wool Kedoratiou and no doubt arrangements satisfactory to both parties will he reached. Alter ail the interests of the growers are linked up with those ot the buyers, and it is desirable that sellers should pay sumo regard to the convenience of the buyers whose work even tinder the best conditions is extremely fatiguing both mentally and physically. Ihe buyers themselves have submitted a roster lor ce.nsideration bv tin: N.Z. \\ oolbrokers. Thi- plot ides lor four sales in November beginning with the sale in Wellington on Monday. tional selling centres being included D ele is certain to he some changes in i |>e dales suggested. The selling centres in the North Island are Wellington. Napier, Wanganui and Auckland, and in the South Island. Christchurch. Timaru, Dunedin and Invercargill. There will he in all 2S sales, five each at Wellington and Napier, lour each at Wanganui and Christchurch, three each at Auckland and Dunedin and two each at Timaru anti Invercargill. The last erutching sale held in Wellington was so sa lislactory and as there, is still a quantity of this class of wool available, the Wellington wool brokers have decided to hold a sale ol

irttlehiiigs on October ‘2 in conjunction with their Usual hide and skin sales. There is said to he a fair demand for eruteliings just now. IVH IT I>’ 11 DAI li V PRODUCE IMPORTS. Dalgety and Co say : “Danish has llm-tttated considerably and it is worth noting that at the beginning of lasi week 170 sto 178 s i.o.h. was being accepted, which, made the lauding price of this description some Is to Its under that ol New Zealand. The full was due to increased siipolies, tom-em:ent on decreased nrdcis from the Continent. This comparison. shows in a marked manner that the heave premium obtainable lor Danish disappears when an extra i|Uanlitv is sent here, owing to the failure of other outlets, such as Germany in pa ri it'ii Li r to absorb the surplus.” Ilie imports of cheese into the I tiitoil Kingdom totalled I ,002. l97ew t, as
