An apology was made for the abseine of -Mr Bishop. The mi mites were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. IXWARI) CORRKSPONDEXC'E. From Teacher, South Spit '(-Mr B. Seward), reporting: average attendance of Id and roll number of 10. —Received. From Canterbury Board, reporting that a number of requirements had been referred to the Overseer lor report.—Received. From same in reference to need of t roe-planting.—Received ; consideration deferred, a conference meantime to be held with the Conservator oi Forests.
From same confirming the appointment of .Miss I’eiilington as assistant in the secondary school.— Received. The Chairman stated the teacher had taken up her duties. From C. 11. Rose, Oreyinoutli, quoting for coal supplies.—Bceeived. From Miss Saiulcrsoii (Dental Nurse) reporting 111 attendances on 77 patients during the period.—lteeeived. It was resolved to place a donation box in the clinic. The Visiting Committee (Mr lla.selor) reported on a niimher of small matters requirin'; attention.—Received and recommendations to be given effect to, including the. provision of
several bags of sand and travel and a couple of sacks'of lime. From Rector reportin'; the school resumed on Monday, .'(lst August with a satisfactory attendance r M.iss Penlinglon hail taken up her duties : the Forestry Department through Mr Perham had supplied a number ol trees for plantin'; and were prepared to supply forest, seeds for planting. 111111110 the vacation, football and basket ball teams bad loured as far as Westport, and though they had not won their values the tour had proved enjoyable. Tlie primary football lean' journeys In Westport this week 1o play file filial for the Newman Shield; asking attention to the tennis court ; that seven probationers and scholars had sat during the vacation for the D Certificate; reporting the infant room accommodation was entirely inadequate and urging tiic Board living asked to provide additional room space.— Received and approved, the subject of accommodation to be pressed lor from the Board. The Reelin' also reported:—The attendance for last week - was .'(lo.!) for the primary ■ school. Arrangements arc well in hand for the school fair mi Wednesday and it was hoped to carry it through .successfully. The Chairman expressed the hope that parents and eit W. -us generally would give every assistance* ami support. In connection with the picture benefit being given bv Mr .Mel,can on Tuesday week, loth in.st, the Reetor reported that £2O for tickets sold had been handed in. Mr Redder moved that application be made In till Fduealion Board for free passes to candidates ai lending examinations outside their own town. Seconded by Mr M'vlls and carried.
