The Mines Department ha* sent letter to the Miners’ I'iiion Federation offerin ; a meeting between t).o Department, owners and miners, for the purpose of preparing an agreement embodying terms under which miners work during the truce. Mr Cook, commenting on the ronstitntion of the Coal Commission says; “Capital is represented: Labour is not represented. The idea that the Commission is neutral is absurd.” “Daily Telegraph." estimates the cost of the first mouth’s subsidy at over C 1.000.000.
