Arising out of a recent allegation in
r cricket match against Worcester that an amateur howler tampered with the seam of the hall in order to gain a greater swing, a writer in the “Evening Standard” asks is there authority li~ stop such a practice. Ho recalls that holhklv objected to Tate wiping the hall with a towel against the Africans and also mentions the story of a noted howler who keeps his pocket filled with powdered resign, in which lie frequently dips his howling hand. No name is mentioned, hut it is understood it was among the incidents recounted when the Englishmen recently returned from Australia.
