The Lyttelton Harbour Board decided to-day to make a reduction in | the shipping dues which will amount I to approximately £7,299. A special ! committee set up to consider the proposed reductions in shipping does, reported that it had considered carefully a comparative table of the dues and charges on ships in forte at other ports in New Zealand and also the Secretary's memorandum thereon. It recommended that the Board’s surcharges of 10 |or cent, upon all dues and charged on the vessels to which it now applies he abolished. The rteeomine'jtdatioti was adopted without discussion. INJURED NURSE. GISBORNE, September 3. With reference to Nurse Elsie Maitland. found seriously injured at Mt. Albert tramline. Auckland, a message states she was employed in Gisborne Hospital and gave her mother's address in Gisborne. The police are .tilvised the young lady is in a serious condition and were asked to advise her relatives. Enquiries made,, however, have not enabled them to get in touch with anyone who knew .Miss Maitland. Site is not known in any of the local hospitals and no one of that name can he found at the address given. Line fact established is that a Miss .Maitland left for Auckland by a steamer last Saturday.
