The Australian-New Zealand cross country championships resulted In a good win for the All Black team, which scored 12 points out of the possible !o:i. The course was very heavy, alter heavy rains, and during the race which was witnessed by 10 ! M) people, there was a biting cold wind. Rose took tlie lead from the start, followed by Whyte. (Y'ictoria). but after two miles had been covered. Brown and Tapp (both New Zealand) were in second and third places, and from then an the places were practically unchanged. Rose ran strongly throughout. and after a groat sprint, finished remarkably fresh 550 yards ahead of Tapp, who beat Brown by thirty yds. YY’ltyle was forty yards behind Brown. Then Aluir (Y’ictoria). and Todtl (New Zealand) were both close up. Next were Whittle (Victoria). l-Leppcr (New Zealand). Weeks (N.S. Wales), Swinbourne (N.S. Wales). McKee (New Zealand). Silver (mint tacliod). Bell (Y'ictoria). Gainsfunl (N.S. YYudo.s), Kent (New Zealand). Hutton (unattached.) Fitzsimmons (N.S. YY'ales). The times for the first four to finish were 3fiiiiin 11 sec, 37.50. 38.2, 38.8.
